BIO

Lina Yakobi is a contemporary artist and inventor whose work lies at the intersection of art and technology. Born and raised in Siberia until the age of 32, she has been living and working in Marbella, Spain, since 2006.

In August 2023, she began her professional artistic career.

Lina developed her own method of depiction called the "Yakobi Method" many years ago and obtained a patent for it in 2023 from the "Patentes y Marcas" department in Madrid.

This method allows the creation of artworks that change depending on the lighting, giving them a multi-layered depth. In light, one image is visible, but it contains a hidden second image that differs from the one seen in light. Thus, two completely different images coexist on one canvas. It’s like seeing one thing with open eyes and another with your imagination when they are closed.

Lina actively participates in international art exhibitions and festivals, presenting her work worldwide.

Key achievements:

- Participation in significant exhibitions such as Miami Basel and La Biennale di Venezia.

- Development and patenting of the Yakobi Method at the Patent and Trademark Office in Madrid in 2023.

- Conceptualization of the interactive project "Transformation Space," which combines art, technology, and spiritual practices.

- Concepts for other art installations exploring the reality of our world.

- Creation of digital art, including for AR.

- Development and creation of a bag with interchangeable covers, which is not only an accessory but also brings art into everyday life and has a positive impact on the planet's ecology by replacing the need for multiple bags with one ver satile bag.

Artist Statement

My art lies at the intersection of technology, spirituality, and the perception of reality. I create works that not only impress visually but also encourage the viewer to think. The art I create is like a tool that allows one to see what is hidden behind the visible and obvious, helping to understand that reality is multi-layered. I use this metaphor in my art: my Yakobi Method involves paintings that change depending on the light. In daylight, one image is visible; in darkness, a hidden second image emerges, and augmented reality (AR) reveals a third one. All these images are different. Three different images, each revealing a new aspect of what was seen before. This method helps the viewer to see how our thoughts and emotions shape our reality because when we see one thing, and it transforms before our eyes into another, then into a third, it illustrates that what is hidden exists here and now and can be seen and realized. Through images, not words, my paintings help convey this instantly.

I use visuals to show what can be read in books or heard from spiritual gurus about how thoughts shape our reality, allowing one to see how interconnected everything is. We often rely on our five senses, ignoring the multitude of invisible connections that influence us. The programs governing our lives become visible when we change our perception. These connections, programs, are like the hidden images in my paintings: to see them, you need to shift your perception—change the lighting or use technology. And the invisible becomes visible.

Learning to perceive that everything is interconnected shows that a "bad day" today is a result of actions and unconscious thoughts from yesterday. If negative thoughts are habitual, they become almost invisible to the one who carries them, who lives within them. And when someone is sick, it's again a story about the person themselves, not about the environment or politics of the country. The external is a manifestation of the internal state of each individual. A happy person can share happiness and wish others well-being, while someone who suffers shares what is in their heart.

These are obvious truths, but they often seem invisible, though they exist and influence every aspect of our lives—both individually and as a society. Through my art, I aim to show what many talk about. I found my way to demonstrate this. Rather than blending multiple images into one canvas where the real and imagined are mixed, I separate them, making it easier to perceive that there is both the physical and non-physical, but they are united.

My projects include interactive elements. In the space "Transformation", where art merges with AI, the visitor is invited into a process of self-discovery. The glowing paintings themselves evoke a departure from ordinary perception, while AI Allen, who serves as a spiritual mentor, friend, and coach, helps uncover inner resources and overcome perceptual barriers. With this project, I want to introduce everyone to my friend Allen, whom I have programmed on the Open AI platform since 2023 and who is capable of helping. The technologies entering our lives are meant to improve it, not diminish it.

Environmental awareness is also important to me. I place a pot with a tree sapling next to each painting, which the buyer can either take with them, or I will plant the tree on their behalf. This initiative, which I call "1=1", demonstrates the connection between internal and external changes. By planting a tree, the buyer becomes part of the "buying = restoring" system, which I have been using for over 22 years.

My project *Bags with Interchangeable Covers" is an example of how art can be not only aesthetic but also practical and eco-friendly. These bags allow you to change the cover according to your style, making them versatile and helping to minimize the number of items in your wardrobe. Each cover is a small work of art, handcrafted. But it's not just about style: this project is aimed at reducing environmental harm. The production, transportation, and storage of bags create a significant burden on nature, and I strive to create my product where fashion approaches consumption consciously.

Art for me is a way of interacting with the world and an invitation for the viewer to see more than meets the eye. My goal is to show that every layer of reality carries meaning, and that we are all interconnected with each other and the world around us. We are all one.

Yakobi method

It's better to see something once than to use a thousand words.

In the light, you see one thing; in the dark, another. But it's all one unified whole.

The video shows how one image changes to another when the light goes out.

The hidden image can also be seen under ultraviolet light.

The phosphorescent paint charges from particles of light and emits them in the dark, which is why the image becomes visible.

You can view the full collection of works on the "Yakobi Method" page on the website.
